Vlad Creanga wanted to challenge us with the greatest of challenges, and he sent us to face Alexander TheGreat!

That’s Alexandru Celmare in Romanian, and with such a name, how could our conversation go other than… great!?

1. What's something that happened to you that can only happen here? What's a unique part about working here?

Since I joined mindit.io in August 2022, even from the early beginnings, I was really enjoying the overall atmosphere and the projects I was working on.

However, I felt that with all the other new workplaces. What’s different about mindit.io is that the honeymoon phase doesn’t end. Or at least it lasts a lot longer.

I still enjoy the same good vibes, friendly people, and amazing office atmosphere, where feedback on the spot is encouraged and people are genuinely interested in what you have to say.

This hasn’t changed since the beginning.

2. How have you grown professionally while on our team?

In the beginning, I used to do a lot of basic support tasks, but since joining the team, I’ve learned SQL and I’m constantly adding new tools to my arsenal. I’ve learned an enormous amount of information here, and I know that I have a lot more to go.

But when your colleagues are such awesome individuals and they always offer you support and help when you need it, how could someone not fall in love with the learning process?

It actually motivates you to try even harder and to learn even more. I feel like every day I have something new to learn, and I couldn’t enjoy this side of things more.

There’s never a dull moment here.

3. What was the moment you knew you'd made the right decision to work here?

When I first came to the office, I said to myself, “man, this is one really cool place.” You can immediately sense the positive vibes and you feel welcome straight from the get-go. I saw how all the people were talking freely to one another and I felt like I was surrounded by friends.

Our offices are definitely a place where you feel like you landed right where you needed to be.

4. How would you describe an ideal day at work?

Every day starts with coffee, chit-chats with colleagues and loads of laughs. After that, we all start our daily calls, go over our tasks and make our plan for the day. In the meantime, there’s a constant struggle to figure out what and where to order food from. I don’t see this ending anytime soon.

Most of the time, some of us remain after hours at the office to play Catan, or other board games, or simply to hang out and relax. Like friends. I really like this about mindit.io and the entire team. You get to know your colleagues a lot better after hours and that’s really fun.

Ionut Vacariu, mindit.io Iasi General Manager is the no. 1 “instigator” in terms of after-hours activities, as he’s always the one proposing to do new and fun stuff together. And we always find something to do!

5. What is your team like?

In one word, I would describe mindit.io as “AWESOME.” Truly awesome and amazing. You really don’t feel like you’re coming to work here. For example, I have a constant “wow” feeling because I get to learn new stuff every day in a one-of-a-kind atmosphere.

Each day is like a new achievement. And this is clearly due to all the people that form this wonderful team. It’s unique in my experience so far.

6. Which benefits are your favorite and why?

One of the unique benefits offered by mindit.io is minditNomad, which I find to be really cool. I’ll be visiting the minditNomad Cluj home really soon and I can’t wait to explore the city, as I’ve heard nothing but wonderful things about it.

Up till now, I’ve visited the minditNomad home from Bucharest and I had a lot of fun with my colleagues from there. minditNomad allows you to explore new cities with your colleagues and friends, and that’s truly a unique benefit in my opinion!

7. What advice would you give to anyone thinking about joining mindit.io?

I already know mindit.io is amazing, but it’s pretty hard to explain to someone from outside just how amazing this place can be!

I would advise anyone to give mindit.io a shot because they’ll not be disappointed with the experience they’ll have. You have to give it a chance because the people here are something else!

8. If you could do anything else for a living, in an alternative universe, what would that be?

In a parallel Universe, given my passion for learning new programming languages, I would probably be a Full Stack developer, and I would still be a part of the mindit.io team. That’s not just a parallel Universe, it’s also one of my professional goals.

I’m even a mentee in mindit.io’s Pilot Mentoring Program and I can’t wait to learn new and exciting things. Live and learn, my friend. Live and learn.

9. What movie, book, or TV show would you recommend? How do you relax and unwind?

I’m a big cinephile. That’s for sure! If there’s something new hitting the cinemas in the next few days, weeks, or months, I have to see it. I have to book my tickets. I know I’m going to have the next couple of weeks booked with movies because I simply have to see them all if they’re my type of productions.

I would recommend Iron Man, Godzilla vs Kong is also a must, and Harry Potter. I grew up with the Hogwarts universe and I still can’t get enough of it.

In terms of TV shows, I would say Game of Thrones, DARK, and 1899, which are shows you really need to pay attention to while you’re watching them, otherwise, you’ll definitely be missing out on a lot of subtleties.

If there’s a movie I like, I have no problem rewatching it time and time and again. Like I said, I’m a cinephile.

10. Who would you tag next to be interviewed by us?

Gabriel Stoicescu really helped me a lot to understand the technical side of things and we’re pretty much alike.

That’s why I think he’s a really cool person to talk to, so Gabriel, TAG, you’re it!
