mindit chats with Vlad Creanga: “I couldn’t be happier to have landed in such a kind community that’s always innovating and helping each other grow.”

Vlad Teodorescu Birla

Alexandru Jipa decided to tag his friend, Vlad Creanga, to be next on our mindit chats series.

Just like Alexandru, Vlad also made a career switch when he decided to tackle the IT industry. Let’s see what he’s all about!

1. What's something that happened to you that can only happen here? What's a unique part about working here?

I’ll start by saying that this is my first journey as part of a software development team and what I can say straight from the get-go is that the people here are extremely delightful. Just like that.

The people I found at mindit.io are unique. The unconditional support I receive, and all the little day-to-day interactions make mindit.io an amazing experience for me.

It definitely destroyed all the preconceptions I had about the IT sector before joining it. You have countless self-development opportunities, and you are always encouraged to find your path. To find a project you enjoy working on, to find what suits you and your style best.

2. How have you grown professionally while on our team?

I’ve been a part of the team since August 2022, starting here as an intern. Since then, I’ve been involved in a continuous learning process, as this industry is always evolving and you have to stay updated with all the latest developments.

Everything being new to me, I feel like I’m constantly absorbing knowledge right and left, and my thirst for discovery has not been quenched yet. I really don’t see that happening anytime soon.

mindit.io Iasi Team

I went through a lot of new technologies and terms I was unfamiliar with, and I’m so glad that I’m surrounded by individuals who are always helpful whenever I need extra information. If you’re a devoted person and you’re interested in becoming the best possible version of yourself then this is the place to be.

Practice makes perfect.

Another area where I can sense huge leaps in my development is when it comes to speaking with other people. I used to have “stage fright” but not anymore. I can find my words and express myself a lot better now than before joining mindit.io, simply because nobody here judges you and you are encouraged to make mistakes, learn from them and try again.

3. What was the moment you knew you'd made the right decision to work here?

It’s going to sound a bit cheesy, but I’ll start by saying that I had an affinity for software development ever since high school.

One of my best friends convinced me to study Dental Medicine instead so I ended up being a dental technician for a couple of years.

However, my love for the IT sector prevailed and I was lucky enough to meet Ionut Vacariu, mindit.io Iasi General Manager, who held a Java course where I got to learn more about the basics of coding. After that, joining mindit.io seemed like the next logical step for me.

I couldn’t be happier to have landed in such a kind community that’s always innovating and helping each other grow. At mindit.io, you feel listened to, you can always count on your teammates, and it is without a shadow of a doubt the perfect learning environment to work in and to become a better overall professional.

mindit.io is the perfect place to build amazing things.

4. How would you describe an ideal day at work?

My previous workplace was a dental medicine laboratory and the job implied a lot of physical risks you had to take into account. We had a saying about how an ideal workday should look like. It went a little something like this: “An ideal day of work is one where you get to return home to your family safe and in one piece.”

And although most of us at mindit.io work from home, I think we can take the essence of this saying and apply it to all industries.

But a perfect day for me has got to be one where I get to finish everything, I planned on doing, and if I also had the chance to learn something new along the way, even better.

If I can share some of my knowledge and help other colleagues, then the day just couldn’t get better.

And when you add the overall mindit.io Iasi office vibe to it all, it’s a pure recipe for magic.

5. What is your team like?

If you’ll allow me to get all poetic, although it’s not necessarily my style when you say team, you could mention the entire mindit.io community, because we literally work like one big organism.

Project Team @minditNomad home Comarnic

When it comes to the people, I have the most contact with, I would say that I have two teams: mindit.io Iasi office team and my project teammates. They’re all wonderful and I can always count on them to help me out whenever I have any questions.

I finally found a place where I can be myself. And I love it.

6. Which benefits are your favorite and why?

Just the fact that you get to work in a place like mindit.io should be considered a benefit, given the organization’s culture and values that always focus on putting people first, no matter what.

I like that this is a place with a lot of professionals that share their knowledge with anyone who is interested in learning more about a certain topic, and when it comes to more diverse benefits, I would have to mention the flexibility you have in terms of building your schedule and working from anywhere.

You can even work from our minditNomad homes, which are fully equipped with everything you need to work, or simply relax with your colleagues, friends, and family.

7. What advice would you give to anyone thinking about joining mindit.io?

A word of advice? Well, I’ll be as blunt as possible. To anyone who is thinking about joining the team, I highly recommend you apply, because you’ll not be sorry for becoming a part of mindit.io.

Go for it and enjoy the ride alongside the best!

Head over to the Careers page, visit our OPEN ROLES, and… apply today!

If you’re not happy with the results, you know where to find me. Or do you? 😉

8. If you could do anything else for a living, in an alternative universe, what would that be?

In an alternative universe, I would most probably be a professional football player. I’ve always had this passion and, all modesty aside, I’m quite good at it.

I used to play as a midfielder, however not professionally, and I always felt I had an overall vision of the game and I took pride in giving long passes like a De Bruyne from Moldavia.

9. What movie, book, or TV show would you recommend? How do you relax and unwind?

I fancy myself in being quite a cinephile. I simply adore psychological and Sci-Fi movies. Especially the ones that end with a “What If?” question, leaving you with an endless world of possibilities to explore.

I would recommend Shutter Island, Interstellar, Inception, and a whole lot more, but we don’t have until the end of the year to list all my recommendations. As a director, I’m a big fan of Cristopher Nolan. I like his style.

In terms of TV series, although some people may find the linguistical barrier a bit too much, I would recommend DARK (in German), or Squid Game (in Korean).

Watching a movie in the actor’s native language is a must in my opinion. There’s nothing quite like it.

Back in the day, I used to be a die-hard Counter Strike player, but not anymore. Now, my love for games has switched to board games, and that’s my favorite way of unwinding, together with friends.

"I'll show that 4-year-old one day!"

Recently, I started hiking with the mindit.io Iasi people and I even picked up snowboarding. However, I’m planning on getting some lessons because I saw a 4-year-old snowboarder who was outclassing me with every move he made.

I’ll show him who’s the real king of the slopes!

10. Who would you tag next to be interviewed by us?

I want to nominate Alexandru Celmare (translated to English his name is literally “Alexander TheGreat") because he’s like the life and soul of the mindit.io Iasi office.

Alexandru, I already know you’re “The Great,” but it’s about time the rest of the world discovers your personality too. TAG, you’re it!
